You can tell a lot about a man by his shoes, my dad used to say. He didn't go on to tell me what to look for, but I do hold that it is true to some extent. Take these boots for instance. True, they are dirty, but look beyond that. They came back from Desert Storm with me, when I was a younger man. I walked off the plane with all of the soldiers that were assigned to me, and we all wore these boots. Lots to be proud of. I suppose I could keep them in my old footlocker in the basement, but somehow that seems wrong. Now I use them when I work in the yard.Wonder what our new president's shoes can tell us about him? Where has he walked in his?

Wasn't there a photo of our new president with his feet on his desk revealing resoled shoes sporting yet another hole worn through them? I don't know where he's walked in his shoes, but I do know he's walked far in them. It's nice that he had them resoled at least once. There probably isn't a $400 haircut in his past. As for his future, he certainly has my prayers. The miles he has yet to go aren't going to be easy ones.
There was a picture of him with worn out shoes. What does that say about a man in a suit that costs over $1000 and an even more expensive wrist watch? It doesn't say where he has been or where he is going. Seems odd that somebody who is as worried about his appearance as he seems to be would suddenly put worn out shoes into what has never been promoted as anything other than a publicity shot as the prominent feature.
Yes, I heard that from someone else today. It's come to my attention that I am very naive. Oh, well. I'm trying to remain optimistic. I can't say I like the man; I'm just hoping for the the best.
Amen
